James Fontanella-Khan

US Finance Editor

James Fontanella-Khan is the US Finance Editor at the Financial Times, overseeing coverage of some of the world’s most important financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Blackstone, and BlackRock, as well as our deals and private capital team across America. He also works closely with the FT’s Washington DC team to cover the intersection of politics and money. Previously, he worked on Lex and as a correspondent in Brussels, New Delhi, and Mumbai. He began his career at the FT in 2005 on the world news desk in London.

JFK co-created the FT’s corporate finance newsletter Due Diligence and helped launch the FT’s business of sports newsletter Scoreboard. His journalism has been recognized with multiple awards, including for his reporting on Guggenheim Partners and WeWork, as well as for launching Due Diligence. In 2024, he was part of the FT team that won the Gerald Loeb Award for its coverage of Credit Suisse’s collapse.
